Alternatives to the Limitless Pendant
Limitless announced its acquisition by Meta in December 2025 and Pendant sales ended shortly after, beginning in EU, UK, and Brazil before the device was withdrawn globally. The Limitless desktop application continues to receive maintenance, but the wearable side of the product is no longer purchasable. If you came here looking for the Pendant, you wanted a small wearable that captures ambient audio with explicit consent design and feeds transcripts into a searchable conversation timeline. Here are the products that still ship.

- #1 · Closest functional match
Plaud NotePin
The Plaud NotePin is the most direct still-shipping replacement. Wearable form factor (lanyard, lapel, wrist strap), strong transcription pipeline, structured summaries delivered to a phone app, ~20-hour battery. Push-to-talk capture, which is more conservative than the Pendant's continuous mode but easier to defend in mixed company. ~$159 + free tier or $79/year Pro.

Bee Pioneer
Bee Pioneer is the alternative for users who valued Limitless's privacy-conscious posture and want to take it further. Published API for routing your data into your own workflows, on-device redaction, recently acquired by Amazon. ~$49 + $19/month.

Plaud Note
If your primary Limitless use was capturing meetings rather than the always-wearable angle, the Plaud Note (magnetic phone-back, not a wearable) is the higher-quality desk-based version of the same workflow. ~$159.

Before you switch
The Limitless acquisition demonstrates a category risk that every wearable AI recorder buyer should price in: cloud-dependent devices can be deprecated by acquisitions or business changes outside your control. Three mitigations: (1) Prefer products with regular data export so you can move historical conversations off the platform if needed. Plaud, Bee, and the now-departed Limitless all supported this. (2) Avoid devices with mandatory subscriptions that exceed the hardware cost over a 24-month window unless the platform value is unambiguous. (3) Watch for on-device transcription, which removes the cloud-dependency single point of failure entirely — no shipped consumer product yet meets this bar, but both Plaud and Bee have hinted at it.
FAQ
- Can I export my historical Limitless conversations?
- Yes, as of this writing the Limitless desktop application continues to support export and the cloud is operational for existing users. We recommend exporting historical data soon as a precaution; the long-term roadmap under Meta is unannounced.
- Will Meta launch a Limitless-branded wearable?
- Meta has not announced a successor product. Coverage has speculated that the Limitless technology and team will be folded into Meta's broader AI hardware roadmap, which includes the Ray-Ban Meta line. No public timeline.
- Is the consent-prompt design from Limitless coming to other products?
- The consent-prompt design Limitless pioneered is widely considered the best in the category and is likely to influence whatever ships next. Plaud and Bee have similar but less elaborate consent layers; future entrants will probably copy the Limitless approach more directly.
- Is there a way to buy a second-hand Pendant?
- The resale market has units, but we do not recommend purchase. The Pendant depends on the Limitless cloud, and the cloud's long-term support timeline is not guaranteed under Meta. A working Pendant could brick on any future Meta business decision.
